Colophon
This project was made possible by a generous grant from the Brittingham Foundation.
Thanks go to
Steven Dast and Sandra Paske of the Microimaging Laboratory and Digital Production Facility,
who worked with Georgen Gilliam in producing high-quality scans of both letterpress pages
and full-page hand-colored engravings. The largest, full-color digital images required
"stitching" together two halves of the circular plates, a project to which
Steven applied much care and expertise.
Robert A. Nelsen produced a thoughtful transcription of the engraved text.
He is working with Peter Gorman of the Library Technology Group to encode that
transcription according to the standards of the Text Encoding Initiative (TEI).
We have also enjoyed the learned counsel of Prof. William Courtenay
(History and Classics) and Prof. James McKeown (Classics).
Much of the research and text, as well as the design and coding
of the Web site were the work of Georgen Gilliam,
then project assistant in Special Collections.
